Foxtons is joining the London Rental Standard scheme, the voluntary standards guide set up by the capital's mayor, Boris Johnson.

The LRS has also been designed to provide tenants with the added reassurance that they are renting from a professional agent who will comply with all the necessary legislation, such as deposit protection and safety certificates.

Membership to the LRS is based on existing accreditation with a selection of industry recognised schemes. Foxtons now says all of its 51 offices are fully accredited, with their lettings managers now National Approved Lettings Scheme qualified.

Although the firm continues to be the subject of occasional media, landlord and tenant criticism over so-called rip off' fees, Foxtons was in fact a founder member of the SAFE Agent scheme and has membership of The Property Ombudsman, Association of Residential Lettings Agents, National Association of Estate Agents and Mydeposits tenancy deposit protection scheme.
