The London region of ReMax has become what is thought to be the first agency to accept digital currency for property rentals, allowing clients to pay in Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin.

ReMax has 16 offices in London and is working with a digital currency payment platform called GoCoin to establish the facility.

Digital currency, also called cryptocurrency, allows online payments without the added complication of first exchanging into the home' physical currency of the country in which the transaction is made; it also, at least for now, lacks the fees associated with many credit card payments. There is no banking institution involved in the transaction.

Having received the payment in a digital currency ReMax will then be able to choose to keep it in that form or convert all or part of it into traditional currencies including US dollars, GB pounds, Euros or Singapore dollars.
