This is a one percentage point increase in the proportion of tenants either very or fairly satisfied with their accommodation in the private rented sector according to data from the latest English Housing Survey, produced by the government.

Some 84 per cent of private tenants are now satisfied with their housing according to the 2012-13 report, compared with the previous year's.

The data also shows rents in the sector falling in real terms. In the five year period between 2008-09 and 2012-13, average weekly rents in the private rented sector increased by £10 from £153 to £163. This is an increase of seven per cent, significantly below both main government measurements of inflation.

Some 81 per cent of social rented sector tenants were satisfied with their accommodation, the same as the year before; however, between 2008-09 and 2012-13 rents in the social sector have increased by over 25% - well above the two inflation measures.

Well said Daniel. I am sure you are aware that most MPs and councillors are taking the stance of bashing letting agents in order to gain votes. "Ban fees", "extend contracts", "stop unfair evictions" etc. Labour are the main players and none of them seem to know what they are talking about.

Well this report produced by the current Government proves Tenants are happy with the current status quo. So I say to Labour MPs and councillors who are CONSTANTLY harping on about change - listen to the facts and keep your noses out of the PRS.

Good news. Shows the majority of tenants are actually happy with their homes and the service they receive from their landlords, in spite of what many news outlets, 'experts' and MPs would have you believe.
