ARLA is urging members to sign-up to a free partnership deal with a council trading standards office which will offer advice and protection over compliance issues.

ARLA has set up Primary Authority, which is a partnership with Warwickshire County Council's trading standards department (the county in which ARLA's HQ is based).

Any agency in England or Wales which has an ARLA, NAEA, ICBA or NAVA PPD member, irrespective of which county the business is in, is able to apply to join, free of charge.

It enables them to form a partnership with one local authority, which then provides robust and reliable advice for other councils to take into account when carrying out inspections or addressing non-compliance. This means that local regulation is consistent at a national level, but sufficiently flexible to address local circumstances says an ARLA statement.

Any advice provided by Warwickshire CC will come with an assurance that it will be respected by all local regulators - a key element, preventing inconsistent interpretation of regulations and applies regardless of where members are based in England or Wales.

Interested members should email members@nfopp-regulation.co.uk with address details of their organisation and provide a point of contact with email address. However, this offer does not apply in Scotland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands).
