I became an estate agent because My brother and business partner (who is much older!) had been an agent for a few years in the early 80's and bought a Porsche 911 which was my dream car at the time. I thought if that's what estate agents drive around in I'll have some of that!

The biggest threat to our industry is... Agents underselling themselves with cheap fees. In some of the towns where we operate, the market leaders do the cheapest fees and they really don't need to! We do not feel threatened by online agents.

My proudest moment in estate agency is Buying a Porsche 911 by the time I was 25 and therefore beating my brother (also building our current business and watching our staff develop).

My biggest mistake in estate agency is... Spending too long growing a previous estate agency chain with very little reward for the blood sweat and tears committed

The most stressful part of my job is STAFF!

If I could change one thing about estate agency it would be... Our reputation. 75% of agents are hard-working and very good at what they do. There are 25% who are either incompetent or slightly shady but that's the same in any industry where the rewards can be high

My one piece of advice for young agents is... There are easier ways to earn a living (but not as much fun!)

The best thing about being an estate agent is The variety. Every day is different and it's also really rewarding when thanked for doing a great job
