Former tattoo parlour transformed by refurbishment specialist, MPL Interiors

Open Doors - a letting agent and property management company based in Buckingham - has unveiled its brand new office thanks to the refurbishment skills of MPL Interiors. No doubt clients and locals will appreciate the transformation from tired tattoo parlour to sumptuous office space.

The new office is a blend of opulent colours, boutique-style furnishings and original features that creates a homely, inviting environment for both tenants and landlords. Amanda McKenna, the lead designer on the project, said the aim was to create a workplace that felt far removed from a cold, clinical office: "The Open Doors refurbishment gave us a chance to create a luxurious look in a business environment. I love blending high-end details with functional furniture as it shows just what can be achieved inside an office. This job also illustrates that agents and property managers don't have to spend a fortune on bespoke elements or designer items to create a really unique feel. Almost all of the facets at Open Doors are off the peg - the skill is actually pulling together the items and colours in a professional way. The professional installation also gives the air of a much more expensive fit out."

A reoccurring theme within the office is metallic - with gilded wallpapers and mirror-finish accessories oozing class and finesse. "The office is divided into three sections," says Amanda, with the front of house receiving the most lavish look. We have used a midnight blue and gold fleur de lys wallpaper and a complementary typographical wallpaper to give the client-facing area a neo-classical feel, with a dramatic light pendant and two button-back armchairs enhancing the living room look. There's also a statement mirror, a mirror-finish cube side table and a bespoke 3D wall logo that we created, which all help reflect the gold details and natural light."

For all its glitz and glamour, the new Open Doors office is also functional. MPL Interiors has customised two curved desk to create a focal-point for visiting clients - joining them together to create a sweeping arc and personalising with a bespoke modesty panel. There's also new flooring, which has been divided into two: a wood-effect vinyl and a carpet that follows the curve of the desk to add interest and to subtly define the waiting area and the staff quarters. For a letting agency and property management company, there is actually scarce mention of property, with a small collection of wall mounted property display units and an understated cable-hung

LED light pocket window display. It's all very in keeping with the commercial meets residential feel Open Doors requested. The exterior is suitably refreshed, with a bespoke new fascia featuring stud-mounted acrylic letters and a complete whitewash of the very detailed faade.

The other two sections of the office that house the property manage and administrative staff and have also had a makeover. Fleur de lys wallpaper once again makes an appearance, this time in more natural, subtle colours, with one-off key-themed wall art, new personalised desks, new flooring and more statement pendent lights. "We worked around original beams and to brick fireplaces so the traditional wallpaper really suited the space," adds Amanda. "Now both staff and clients can feel inspired and relaxed, knowing that property can bring with it a touch of luxury."
