Brand new custom-made elements mix with existings fittings to create a stunning new branch

Bennetts Residential - a sales and lettings agent in Uxbridge - is operating from a brand new office after relocating from the local shopping centre to a prominent position on the High Street.

Managing Director, Philip Bennett, said the move has enabled the agency to reinforce its brand in the local area, utilising the design and fit out skills of MPL Interiors to personalise the new space. The office itself is a combination of furniture and fittings from the old branch, together with a total refurbishment of the new workplace and bespoke additions especially crafted by MPL for Bennetts Residential.

"As much as we loved our former office, the move to our new branch was essential and gives us a stronger foothold on the Uxbridge High Street. We kept the most treasured items from our former workplace and mixed them with a fresh new look that trades off the strong Bennetts corporate colours of purple and blue. What has been achieved is wonderful - the new office isn't the most conventional of shapes so it was vital to involve MPL as they are experts in space planning and bespoke office solutions."

Amanda McKenna, the lead designer from MPL Interiors, says that blending existing elements from a previous office with brand new fittings is something they often accommodate: "Many agents will have items or aspects they would like to retain and we're happy to incorporate these into a new design. In many cases, we can use our 3D visuals to illustrate how existing fittings can become part of a new scheme or, like in the case of Bennetts Residential, how they can be moved from one office to another. For Bennetts, MPL Interiors removed the existing wall logo from the previous office and remounted it, and recited the existing window display, making changes to accommodate the different size window."

A bespoke fit-out element was an essential part of this job, as the front of office - narrowed by the main doorway - could have ended up a dead space. Instead, MPL created a made-to-measure refreshment station, with plenty of storage and a built-in fridge. The idea was further expanded to also include a flush-fit LCD screen and recessed display alcoves that together form a great focal point of the waiting area. "The custom-made route is beneficial for clients with awkward shaped offices," comments Amanda, "in this case we built a functional item of furniture that suited the space and didn't overwhelm the area - something not always achievable with off-the-peg options."

The new office's faade has a clean, crisp feel, with an all-white paint treatment and a white sign to which the agent's name and contact details have been affixed. There's also a new projecting sign and trough lighting to highlight the lettering after dark. Other additions include replacement floor coverings, a new feature drop ceiling that echoes the curve where the carpet and the vinyl meet, desks with personalised modesty panels, bespoke wall art with motivational phrases mounted in ornate frames and a custom-print vinyl wall map, which has been given a purple tint to match the Bennett brand.
