The Association of Residential Lettings Agents has launched a new legal helpline for agents.

It will be available to members Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and funded by 11 legally-trained staff provided by Dutton Gregory Solicitors.

It aims to help ARLA members with all landlord and tenant enquiries, as well as immigration and general business law.

ARLA president Valerie Bannister says legal advice is a costly burden to many letting agents, even when the query may be resolved with a small piece of advice. "We hope this provides extra peace of mind for all our members that help is on hand when they need it she says,

The helpline was launched at this week's ARLA conference which was shown video messages from Conservative housing minister Brandon Lewis, Liberal Democrat housing spokesman Stephen Williams, and Labour's housing minister Emma Reynolds explaining how they think the private rented sector should develop over the next Parliament.
