Who are you?
Luke Mason, from IntelliLet. I help letting agents with every aspect of their business, but particular focus is on growing and developing their business.

How did it all start?
In 2008 I set up a Belvoir franchise in Hertfordshire. From a cold start I built the business to become a top sixth office within three years. I eventually sold the business in 2014 to free up my time, release capital and to work on other projects. I was always being offered opportunities in helping and joining other letting agents so consultancy seemed to be the perfect transition.

What is your greatest achievement and what made it so special?
Winning ‘The Rising Star of The Year’ from The Negotiator Magazine and also ‘Gold Franchise of The Year’ from Belvoir PLC. It was great recognition for the sheer hard work my team put in. Away from work it was becoming a father in February of this year.

Who do you currently work with?
A lot of different agencies up and down the country but due to confidentially I do
not disclose names. However, one client I am particularly excited to be working
with is a well known London estate agents first UK franchise.

How do you create value for your clients?
A lot of business owners I work with are stuck working in the business and not on it and so are missing many opportunities in growing their businesses. I also make sure that they are compliant and not leaving themselves open to risk. One client I work with hadn't inspected over 20% of their managed properties for over a year due to the software not being up to date. Another client didn't really have much of a structure in finding new landlords so the business wasn't growing. My cost is quite small in comparison to the changes and growth which can be made.

What do you feel it takes to be successful in the industry?
Most agents overlook the basics, persistence, customer service, showing an interest the clients requirements, honesty and efficiency in replying to calls/emails. I find it amazing how so many agents don’t respond to Rightmove leads or how many agents fail to register and follow up prospective landlords details.
