Connells Group says it aims to have 150 new, local lettings operations by the end of 2015 through a series of branch openings and acquisitions of existing lettings businesses.

The group is coy over the locations and targets for its growth but it says tenant demand is the basis for its expansion programme; demand has risen some 18 per cent since the start of the year while the number of new instructions for rental properties rose by only 8.6 per cent.

Our figures in quarter one this year show there were around seven prospective tenants looking for every new rental property coming onto the market, says Stephen Nation, group lettings managing director for Connells.

We have many more new branch openings planned for the next few months, as well as being in talks with a number of other businesses with an interest in selling. Anyone who would like to open discussions about a potential purchase by the Connells Group should get in touch he says.

Great news! They must be getting closer to the 420 branches CRL have if this boost is true. Hopefully it may force CRL to purchase some more substandard letting agents. John Germans and Carsons anyone
