Brothels, cannabis, fake tenancies and the letting agent

Todays other news

A former Andrews letting agent and his ex-girlfriend are reported to have pleaded guilty to forging tenancy applications for properties which became cannabis factories and brothels.

Seun Alliu – branch manager at Andrews in Morden, south London, from 2011 to 2013 – pleaded guilty to eight fraud offences including taking a letting fee, cashing in a rent deposit and falsifying peoples’ incomes to obtain tenancy references.

The Wimbledon Guardian reports that Kingston Crown Court has heard that some of the properties let fraudulently were subsequently used as cannabis factories or brothels.

Alliu’s former girlfriend, Dora Vasas – who was never employed by Andrews – pleaded guilty to seven counts of forging tenants’ financial details to obtain references from LetRisks.

But she denied one charge of stealing a £500 rent deposit in August 2012 and another allegation of pretending to be an agent for Andrews Letting Agency to support a tenancy for a property. Alliu has also denied five fraud allegations.

Alliu, now living in Hove, was bailed on the condition he does not contact Vasas, whose registered address is now in Milton Keynes.

The Wimbledon Guardian says both will return to court after the Crown has determined if there will be a trial.
