The index will include local data and bedroom number analysis, and is intended to serve as a practical guide to agents and other lettings professionals, as well as current and potential landlords looking to invest.

Rental trends will be reported by nationwide total, region, county and London borough levels and rents will be analysed by the number of bedrooms in properties.

The index will use Zoopla data with an estimated 100,000 properties analysed each month.

It is commissioned by peer-to-peer buy-to-let mortgage lender Landbay.
