Rents in Scotland dropped 2.3 per cent on average in the month leading up to the General Election according to Your Move. 

 

Even so, they are 2.2 per cent higher than a year earlier, at an average £561 per month.

 

Four of the five regions surveyed saw rents increase in the last year, led by the South of Scotland where the rise was 8.8 per cent. The East of Scotland was up 3.3 per cent, Highlands and Islands up 3.2 per cent and the Edinburgh and Lothians region rose 2.6 per cent. 

 

The Glasgow and Clyde region was the only to post a fall in prices year-on-year, dropping back 0.3 per cent compared to May 2016.

 

Edinburgh and Lothians continues to have the highest rents in Scotland – £656 pcm.
