A company which already runs a student accommodation lettings service online is to expand and open a general online lettings agency in the near future – and is hoping to raise £600,000 to fund it.

StudentTenant raised £310,000 earlier this year to pour into its student-focussed service, which from this week has a redesigned website and a ‘find a housemate’ tool, which works along the lines of a dating app.

However, next month a mainstream online agency called ClickTenant is to launch.

“We already have the tech in place, the staff and the database of landlords with properties in their portfolio that aren’t just student properties. We see a huge opportunity as landlords move away from the traditional, expensive high street letting agents” says one of the owners, Simon Vaughan.

The £600,000 fund-raising project will be to fund not only the new online agency service but to re-brand the parent company as the Rent-All Group and to help a project in partnership with a Barcelona lettings agency.

Yesterday we reported that Vesper Homes – which operates an online lettings and sales agency focussed on London – was seeking to raise via crowdfunding between £100,000 and £250,000 to underwrite expansion.
