Agency urges more maintenance to avoid tenants' winter gripes

An online agency is urging landlords to try to avoid unnecessary voids or tenant gripes by preparing their investment properties for winter.

Research for Upad amongst over 4,000 private landlords shows how just over half - 52 per cent - carry out checks ahead of the winter period.

Amongst those landlords who do commit to routine inspections, 73 per cent ensure checks and necessary maintenance are carried out on the heating boiler, yet only 55 per cent extend this to all aspects of the heating systems including pipework and radiators.

A similar number extend their checks to outside the property with 55 per cent clearing drainpipes and guttering and 27 per cent carrying out roof checks and maintenance.
