Regional agency chain acquires city-based independent firm

A Leicestershire agency chain has acquired a rival Leicester-based independent.

Whitegates, which has offices in Loughborough, Mountsorrel and central Leicester, has acquired Leicester-based Taylors Property Services.

Whitegates – set up in 2012 and now one of Martin & Co’s brands – now has five additional offices including Leicester, Loughborough, Syston, Sileby and Broughton Astley.

The Whitegates brand now manages over 600 properties on behalf of landlords and is currently marketing over 300 homes on the sales market. It employs 40 staff and has a turnover of £2m.

“The acquisition of Taylors Property Services provided the ideal opportunity for us to further grow our business. Whilst there may be a slight cooling off in the London property market, the market here in Leicestershire is fairly steady and provides a strong market both in terms of house sales and a growing demand for rental properties” explains a Whitegates spokesman.

The deal will be funded through Barclays.
