UK's biggest buy to let investor 'will fight journalist for £10,000'

Fergus Wilson, long-regarded as Britain’s biggest buy to let investor and landlord despite recent attempts to sell some of his homes, now says he will fight a journalist for £10,000.

The larger-than-life Wilson at one time owned around 1,000 BTL properties, mostly in Kent; in 2015 we reported that the portfolio was being sold to overseas investors for around £250m.

However, the 22-stone Wilson - a former professional boxer - claims 15-stone Kent Messenger reporter Ed McConnell stated that Wilson's three-year-old racehorse Maidstone Mixture had been described as the worst race horse in history; in factthe 1,000-1 rank outsider had only been called the worst in Derby history.

A report on Kent Online says Wilson pledges to pay over the £10,000 if McConnell, who has never boxed before, lasts one round in a bare-knuckle encounter.

Wilson is quoted as saying: "I don't think it's a fair fight. I think it would be very unkind of me to do it as I'd hurt him very badly which I really would not want to do. If I set about his face in a fight I would really make a mess of it."
