Agency takes initiative by encouraging landlords to speak out on licensing

A letting agency is urging landlords to respond to the consultations for three selective licensing schemes in its local area.

homes4u, which operates in Manchester and Salford, says licensing schemes can be a 'minefield' for landlords.

The firm is also holding a 'landlord licensing information meeting' in June. homes4u's compliance team, as well as City Council representatives, will be on hand to answer landlords' queries and explain selective licensing in more detail.

“We want to support landlords who have properties in these neighbourhoods and are unclear about what licensing means for them,” say Adele Turner and Keir Dawson of homes4u’s compliance team.

"This is a great opportunity for landlords as improvements to neighbourhoods will help increase the demand for their property.”

The agency is urging landlords to respond to consultations for Old Moat and Moston in Manchester (open until June 2) and Charleston & Lower Kersal in Salford, which runs until June 12.

Salford City Council currently runs three selective licensing schemes in Broughton, Barton & Eccles and Langworthy, Weaste & Seedley.

Manchester City Council currently runs just one licensing scheme in Crumpsall, but the outcome of a consultation for Rusholme & Moss Side is expected by mid-June.
