Rental sector encouraged to promote benefits of Direct Debit to tenants

Letting agents and landlords are being encouraged to promote and increase Direct Debit sign-ups for rental payments.

Bacs Payment Schemes Limited (Bacs) - the company behind Direct Debit in the UK - has launched a free marketing toolkit emphasising the benefits of the payment system.

The online resource includes a range of customisable leaflets and images and Bacs has also created a marketing best-practice guide.

Direct Debit payments continued to grow last year, surpassing the 4 billion barrier for the first time and hitting a total value of £1.3 trillion.

“We are always looking at ways in which we can support businesses in making efficiencies when it comes to collecting payments,” says Bacs spokeswoman Dawneth Perry.

“Our new toolkit offers a great opportunity for the housing rental sector to save time and money on their marketing materials by providing free, professionally-designed, customisable resources to promote Direct Debit as a preferred payment option.”

“We know that launching a bespoke marketing campaign can be both costly and time-consuming, so we hope that organisations will take full advantage of this resource.”
