Century 21 franchise company wins new Build To Rent contract

SDL Group - owner of the UK franchise for Century 21 lettings and estate agency branches - has been named as the operator handling all lettings and property management at a 250-unit Build To Rent scheme in Sheffield.

Sheffield council has approved the plans for the scheme on a 28-acre site known as Manor Boot; the BTR units will be a mix of three and four-bedroom properties.

The scheme is being led by Sigma Capital Group, which has had a long-standing relationship with SDL Group - the latter now has contracts to manage over 1,500 BTR units.

“There is huge demand for quality rental [in Sheffield] as we have already seen with our Norfolk Park apartment scheme, which is letting extremely well. With two developments in the pipeline with Sigma in the area, we are proud to be playing an ongoing role in the future of Sheffield’s rental market” explains Paul Staley, director of PRS at SDL Group.

Meanwhile, in London, development giant Quintain says it has now completed 261 Built To Rent homes at Wembley Park. A total of 6,000 homes are earmarked for the 85 acre site, mostly for rent.

Quintain’s BTR business, called Tipi, has a no-fee rental package and all-inclusive utilities; its latest homes at Wembley Park also offer indoor and outdoor social spaces including “a unique shared state of the art kitchen for dinner parties and cooking demos” as well as a break out areas for home-workers, a gym and a rooftop terrace.

Quintain is now spending £1m per day on construction; during this year 3,000 new homes will be under construction at Wembley Park, delivered at a pace which the company claims is not seen at any other London development site.
