New figures compiled by the British Property Federation chronicle the continuing growth of Build To Rent across the country.
The BPF says there are up to the end of the second quarter of this year some 83,650 BTR units either completed or planned across the UK; this breaks down to 15,925 completed, 20,618 under construction, and a further 47,107 with planning permission.
In London there are a total of 47,238 units, comprising 10,313 completed units, 9,455 under construction, and 27,480 with planning.
Outside London, there are 36,412 units, comprising 5,612 completed units, 11,173 under construction, and 19,629 with planning.
Perhaps surprisingly, local developers and national specialist developers each account for 24 per cent of the total; contractors account for 19 per cent and major UK housebuilders account for 18 per cent.
