Is your compliance up to scratch? Free refresher webinar for letting agents

Todays other news

As part of SAFEagent Awareness Week, which finishes today, letting agents have been provided with a free webinar covering compliance.

The webinar has been produced by SAFEAgent in partnership with London Trading Standards and the free-to-view session offers agents the chance to refresh their knowledge and make sure their processes are up to date.

It features Donald Silcock, vice chair of London Trading Standards. He talks through the Consumer Rights Act 2015, offering best practice advice and providing real-life examples.

SAFEagent’s webinar also focuses on eight key topics: Check-in fees, Client Money Protection, easily accessible information, redress scheme renewal, ‘negotiable fees’, ensuring fees include VAT, advisory letters and correct display of business names.

“The law can be confusing, and we wanted to provide an opportunity to share best practice with all,” says John Midgley, chair of SAFEagent.

Martin Harland, chair of London Trading Standards’ Letting Agents Group, adds: “Professional agents work hard to ensure they are compliant, but we hope this webinar shows best practice and explains the more complicated areas in the Consumer Rights Act that can commonly cause confusion.”

You don’t have to be a member of SAFEagent to view the webinar, which can be accessed here.
