Market dip – letting agents’ board figures down in April

Todays other news

There was a decline in both the number of To Let and Let By properties during April, according to the latest Property Activity Index from board supplier Agency Express.

Overall, the number of To Let boards was down 9.4% when compared to March, while the number of Let By boards dipped by 9.1%.

Across the UK, only two of 12 regions recorded growth when compared to the previous month. To Let figures increased by over 10% in London on a monthly basis, while the number of Let properties in the South West climbed by 5%.

The largest monthly decline was recorded in Wales where the number of Let boards provided by Agency Express declined by 25% – the drop is a more steady 4.5% when considered over a three month period.

“We traditionally see a slowdown in activity throughout April and this month is no different,” says Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express.

“As we now move in to what is usually a robust period for the market, we would hope to see a fairy robust spike in activity.”
