Agents and prospective buy to let investors keen to grab a slice of the capital’s growing lettings market now have a league table of ‘most searched for’ locations by renters scouring Zoopla.

The portal says Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs – both in the Tower Hamlets E14 postcode area and home to some of London’s biggest financial institutions – are the most searched for.

The W2 postcode district, which encompasses Paddington and Bayswater, was ranked the second most searched for location for a rental home in the capital whilst the postcode area including the South Bank, Bankside, Bermondsey & Waterloo (SE1) came third.

Battersea, which has been a hotspot for Build To Rent homes in the last three years, squeezed its way on to the hotspot list, featuring as the 10th most requested London location for a rental home.

Zoopla analysed its London rental search queries over the past 12 months and went on to segment the most popular by property type and number of bedrooms.

Once again E14 topped the list for tenants looking for a one or two bedroom apartment in London while those seeking larger properties to rent showed a strong preference for outer zones with eight of the 10 most popular areas on three and four bedroom houses located in the South West and North West of London.

Zoopla‘s most searched for London rental locations over the past 12 months have been:

  1. E14/Canary Wharf and Isle of Dogs
  2. W2/Paddington and Bayswater
  3. SE1/Southwark and Lambeth
  4. NB1/Islington
  5. NW1/Camden
  6. E1/Whitechapel and Stepney Green
  7. SW6/Fulham
  8. NW3/Hampstead
  9. NW6/Kilburn and West Hampstead
  10. SW11/Battersea
