A lettings agent in London has been fined for the third time in as many years – this time for failing to publicise its letting fees and information about its redress scheme online.

AMBI Investments Ltd, trading as Primelodge Estates, was in breach of section 83 (1) of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and fined £5,000. 

The business had previously been fined £10,000 in 2017 for a similar breach, and in October last year it was penalised a further £7,000 for failing to apply for a private landlord licence for a property it managed. 

It has been mandatory for private landlords in the Barking & Dagenham borough to purchase a licence from the council since 2014.

Councillor Margaret Mullane, cabinet member for enforcement and community safety, says: “This agent has once again failed to meet the high standards expect for businesses to operate in our borough and demand for the people who live here. The rules are in place to protect residents and we will continue taking action again those who try to cut corners in pursuit of profit.”
