Pervert photo request leads to landlord being denied a licence

A landlord who made a perverted request to take photographs of a teenager in her underwear has had his request for a rental licence turned down.

Media reports say that licensing chiefs in Glasgow turned down Joga Singh's bid to extend his HMO licence by three years after an objection by Police Scotland.

According to police, Singh approached the 17-year-old in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and "began complimenting her figure”; the following day he offered her money and suggested he bought her underwear for photographs.

Singh admitted the offences but these were cited as reasons for the local authority committee in Glasgow to reject his licensing application.

The council licensing body was told be Police Scotland that Singh was not "a fit and proper person" to hold a licence.

Singh, a landlord for over 20 years, told the authority: "My actions have caused incredible hurt to so many people, not least my wife and children, family and friends and business colleagues."

But committee chairman Alex Wilson has told him: "You put a person under severe fear and alarm for her own safety. The fact you added a sexual nature to that is despicable."
