Upad closure: Another agency offers deal to stranded customers

Another online lettings agency has come forward with a deal to help landlords and tenants stranded after the closure of Upad.

Last weekend Upad suddenly announced it was shutting down, apparently because of the pressure of work on its founder, James Davis, who suffered serious medical problems in recent years.

Now an agency called Letting a Property says it wants to help Upad customers at this “particularly stressful and uneasy time.”

It says: “We recognise that some customers will be caught in the middle of tenancy negotiations and will be in search of some help.”

Letting a Property is offering Upad landlords without tenants a free advert on Rightmove and Zoopla, while for those that have found tenants there is an offer of we tenant referencing, tenancy agreements and deposits handled at no extra cost.

“And for any customers collecting rent, we are offering a rent collection switching service free of charge. Whether you're a first-time landlord or have a portfolio of homes under your belt, we know that the security of your property is your priority and we would like to do what we can to reduce any distress caused by this difficult situation” says the agency.

Earlier this week several other agencies made offers to assist landlords and tenants left without an agent as a result of the Upad closure.
