Corona legal Q&A, market tracker and how one agency is handling it…

Todays other news

Hello – here we are with Friday’s help and advice.

A reminder, if you need it, that we want to share your advice – as well as ongoing official guidance of course – with the rest of the industry. So please email us appropriate information on [email protected].

First off today we have an excellent legal Q&A from DAS Legal and kindly provided to us by PropTech firm Goodlord. This is ‘the’ place to look for legal information for letting agents and landlords during the Coronavirus crisis.

You’ll find it here.

But remember, the Q&A was created before the government’s latest measures to effectively ban evictions in the private and social sector during the next three months – the official notification from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government can be found here.

And for those interested in stats, Goodlord has also ingeniously come up with a tenancy volume tracker service.

This looks at the average tenancy volumes from 2019, and compares them to the tenancy volumes of 2020 with the aim of providing a weekly snapshot to lettings professionals on how the industry throughout England and Wales is reacting during this time.

You can check that out here.

Finally today, a look at one international agency’s approach to handling the virus.

Chris Buckler is the operating partner of Keller Williams’ market centre at London Bridge, and he’s made a short two-and-a-half minute video explaining how the agency worldwide – with its 180,000 agents across 25 countries and four continents – is dealing with the spread of Covid-19.

It’s British in delivery but American in substance, looking at the current difficulties as a chance to reassess strategy rather than simply be defensive. It’s well worth a look at the video below…
