The acquisition of an independent agency in Yorkshire has resulted in a branch closure and the two staff being transferred to the new owner.

My Property Box has acquired Richmond-based Garrison Lettings as part of what it calls its “long term growth strategy”.

Garrison Lettings was co-founded by Jill Atkinson who, with the support of office manager Maria Hawkswell, has run the business since 2004.

But as part of the deal its office has closed and the two have transferred to the tenancy management team operating from My Property Box’s Darlington office.

It is the third such deal My Property Box has completed in the past 18 months and follows the takeover of Thornaby-based Holt Estate Agents, and Sandersons Lettings in Darlington.

My Property Box is working with private equity firm Winch & Co to identify and acquire lettings businesses in the Leeds area as it seeks to gain a foothold in the West Yorkshire market.

Ben Quaintrell, founder and managing director of My Property Box, says: “This company is experiencing huge growth in its customer base and a high demand for rental properties thanks to an innovative approach, which includes the use of digital technology to streamline the whole process.”
