Right To Rent changes - key webinar tomorrow to help agents

Changes to the codes of practice surrounding Right To Rent are introduced on November 2, and tomorrow there’s a useful webinar to discuss what that means for agents and landlords.

The panel consists of Right to Rent expert Gareth Fowler, who is managing director at Keysafe, as well as the regulatory law specialist David Smith, a partner at JMW Solicitors.

They’re be discussing the changes with Rajeev Nayyar, managing director of Fixflo.

Attendees will also have a chance to pose questions directly to the panel.

The event is tomorrow at 11am; you can register here.

Last week Smith summed up the code changes as being “fairly cosmetic” but still turned agents and landlords into effectively unpaid border control officers.

“This system is also likely to see a more radical change next year as the UK moves towards a proposed ‘points based immigration system’ and, presumably, also moves to downgrade EEA and Swiss nationals to being of similar immigration status to other countries for which we normally allow time-limited visa free access (as opposed to unlimited visa free access) with the option to extend in certain circumstances” says Smith.

There’s another useful webinar later this week, when two expert speakers form a panel discussing “Tales from the Frontline: Property Licensing and HMOs.”

The event, on Thursday at 2pm, will hear from Paul Conway, who heads compliance companies HMO Services and Yuno. He will be joined by Matt Willetts, an experienced Environmental Health Officer within a London council which says licensing schemes are positive, useful tools for property managers, tenants and landlords.

You can register for that webinar here.
