New advice on staff rights, home working, security - Conquering Corona

Good morning and welcome to the industry’s daily update on how we cope with the challenge of social distancing and self-isolation - and still keep customers in place.

We have more guidance and advice from within the industry set out below, but we would love to share your experiences during these challenging times - just email us on press@lettingagenttoday.co.uk and we will share suggestions with our readers.

Working from home is pretty much the way the whole industry is operating now and The Able Agent, a training group, has produced a handy 10 minute video to explain how it’s done - the advantages and the more challenging aspects too.

It covers working practices, security and even shows a tempting slice of cake - thanks to Charlotte Jeffry-Campbell, director at The Able Agent, for sharing the video below.

Fixflo is a well-known and highly respected name in the lettings industry, and its content marketing manager Riemy Wan has penned a highly information piece on property management and keeping customers in the loop.

She’s kindly shared it with us, and it’s worth a read because unlike much advice it extends to PropTech, internal communications, software and cyber security - thanks Riemy: the piece is here.

-

There’s guidance too from Citizens Advice for employees - obviously it has assessed existing legislation to see what applies across the board but this will be relevant to those working as employees at agencies and suppliers.

The CA information looks at sick pay entitlement, your rights if you wish to work from home, what might happen in terms of employee rights if schools are shut and individuals need to look after children, and then whether you can be dismissed as a result of not being able to work thanks to the virus. There’s a lot to take in but you’ll find it useful - it’s in the lower half of this guidance here

-

A reminder that the NAEA and ARLA have created a 27 point checklist covering everything from video viewings to compliance with Consumer Protection Regulations, and how these can be achieved during these difficult months ahead.

You can see the checklist here.

-

That’s it for today - keep up spirits and business, and we’re back tomorrow helping our industry Conquering Corona.
