Not so grand - average rent still under the £1,000 threshold

The latest lettings market snapshot by HomeLet shows that average rents across the UK are still not breaking through the £1,000 per calendar month level. 

HomeLet says the typical UK rent is now £955 pcm and, if London is excluded from the calculation, only £791 pcm - that’s 1.2 per cent up on a year ago.

Average rents in cash terms are now £1,650 pcm in London, up 3.2 per cent annually.

Nine of the 12 regions monitored by HomeLet showed an increase in rental values between February 2019 and February this year, with two of those regions seeing an increase of more than five per cent.

The single largest annual rise was in the North West of England, seeing a 6.8 per cent rise.
