Agents Beware - many rental property viewings called “disgusting”

A lettings portal says almost half of the prospective renters it has surveyed claim to have regarded some viewings as “disgusting” because of the state of the properties concerned.

Online lettings site Mashroom surveyed 2,000 UK adults and found that 56 per cent admitted they had been put off a property before they had even viewed it because of the pictures taken of the interior.

Almost one third said they would be happy to judge a property based on a video viewing provided they were convinced it gave a realistic impression of what the property is like.

"Our research has revealed just how many landlords and sellers have fallen at the first hurdle by not presenting their property correctly for a viewing” says Mashroom chief executive Stepan Dobrovolskiy.

“While the average person spends more than an hour preparing the home, so many appear to be making such simple mistakes and potentially missing out on the perfect tenant” he adds.

The platform has created a series of four videos to help improve knowledge of presentation of properties to let.

Episode one focuses on the principles championed by decluttering pioneer Marie Kondo, while the second episode looks specifically at lighting.

The third explains the importance of composition and framing a video tour, including the apparent importance of vertical and horizontal lines running through a home.

The final episode provides tips on how to emphasise the key aspects of a property.

Bloody hell John. How have you managed to shoehorn in digs at the MSM and the left, in the comments section of an article about property interiors?

Sounds to me like you're a paranoid wreck

The problem with staging is that many agents don't have a clue, are not trained or simply do not have the time to worry about tidying up to the detriment of their clients.
