New referencing product shifts emphasis and cost to tenant

A new product aims to improve tenant referencing by shifting the emphasis to the renters themselves.

LegalforLandlords has just launched its new RentalPassportTM which is free to set up and valid for 90 days, and is specific to the tenant not the property.

The usual referencing checks are included in the form of affordability, credit history, employment details, and previous landlord’s history.

Agents can use a unique QR code or embed a unique link into each property listing on their website - the applicant requesting a viewing can choose either a traditional appointment or to create their RentalPassportTM.

If the latter option, LegalforLandlords asks for further details to complete preliminary reference checks. The system also collects details of viewing availability, all of which is passed to the agent.

The creators claim pointless viewings can be eliminated, and agents will shortly have the option to sync viewings to their own diary.

Once a viewing has taken place and the potential tenant wants to proceed, preliminary referencing checks will have already been completed and at the tenant’s expense.

Included in the package is free access for tenants to RentalCommunity, an online hub where they can secure high street discounts and deals including deposit replacement schemes.
