Agents change working hours to encourage greater staff well-being

Early results from a survey into wellbeing suggest that agents are changing their working practices to help staff have a greater work/life balance and improved mental health.

‘The New Normal’ survey, run by PropTech operators tmgroup and mio, has so far had 300 responses from a range of property professionals.

So far, 44 per cent of respondents have stated they’ve introduced flexible working hours; 20 per cent have regular wellbeing calls to those working from home; 21 per cent have increased social events; and 20 per cent have encouraged staff to spend time outdoors.

Joe Pepper, chief executive of tmgroup comments: “It’s nice to see that property professionals across the breadth of the industry are adopting people-centric measures to support their teams through these challenging times. 

“In a world where operating with reduced staff in the midst of the Stamp Duty Holiday rush has led to increased working hours and high levels of stress, property professionals need this more than ever – especially with the Christmas rush already building up and keeping everyone busy”. 

 

The current study backs up one by the same operators a year ago which looked specifically at how agents and other property professionals were coping with the pandemic. 

Last year’s research attracted over 600 responses and highlights included delays, unrealistic client expectations and workloads being cited as the biggest challenges; growth, integration, and better use of technology outlined as key goals for 2021; and improved flexible working arrangements being welcomed by staff.
