Generation Rent leader to speak at ARLA Propertymark conference

Todays other news

Baroness Alicia Kennedy, the director of Generation Rent, is to be one of the speakers in a debate at the ARLA Propertymark conference next month.

The debate is entitled The Future of Renting and will be chaired by BBC journalist Julian Worricker, and the other speakers include Timothy Douglas – Propertymark’s policy and campaigns manager – as well as the chief executive of the National Residential Landlords Association, Ben Beadle.

The panel will also include Melissa York, assistant property editor at the Sunday Times.

Baroness Kennedy, a former Labour political adviser, was made a Labour Life Peer by former party leader Ed Miliband in 2012; this is thought to be her first time speaking at an ARLA event. Since taking over the Generation Rent leadership she has set a strident tone criticising the letting agent and landlord communities.

Others speakers at the ARLA Conference, although not participating in the same debate, include celebrity designer Mary Portas, the ARLA president-elect David Votta and Enna Kahn, head of customer experience at Knight Frank.

There will be an ARLA Presidential address from Maxine Fothergill, while Propertymark chief executive Nathan Emerson will provide an industry round-up
