A survey by PropTech firm Moveable suggests that over a third of those renting in London are doing so only while they save to rent or buy outside the capital.

The main aspiration is to achieve a home with more space, considered much more achievable outside London than inside.

In a survey by the firm, 38 per cent of those living in London plan to rent for longer in order to buy in the regions in the future, while 50 per cent of London tenants says they will not even attempt to buy a property in the city at any point.

For 63 per cent of respondents, say outside space is now the most important thing in searching for a new property.

“With the New Year upon us, it seems likely that we will start to see London become emptier, as prospective homebuyers have had a shift in prerequisites for what they need in a home, now looking for larger spaces” says Simon Bath, creator of Moveable.
