An agency has made its third acquisition in recent years – this time snapping up a town’s longest established lettings agency.

Whitegates in Huddersfield has paid a six-figure sum for Whitworths, the town’s oldest agency which was founded in 1948 and had remained in family ownership until now.

The purchase adds additional 200-plus properties to Whitegates’ portfolio in Huddersfield and Brighouse – this takes it to over 1,000 properties managed.

The Huddersfield Whitegates branch is run by entrepreneur Chan Khangura and his father, Kashmir Khangura. The branch took over Linden Lettings and Easy Lettings Northwest in recent years.

Khangura says: “I am delighted to announce I have now acquired the business of Whitworths Estate Agents strengthening our position as the largest residential estate agency in Huddersfield.”
