Lettings portal charges agents only when properties are rented

A lettings portal says it’s expanding across London and is offering agents free listings with no fixed-term contract, and the prospect of referral fees.

Scraye says an agent can come and go as they please without an extra cost to their business, but they pay a 0.95 per cent plus VAT fee when their properties are rented.

It describes this success-based model as a fair business opportunity, giving agents extra exposure for their property risk free.

The portal offers free photography, virtual tours and floor plans for every property, and claims two “take care of everything at no extra cost, from viewings to ASTs.”

Scraye also has a rent-upfront option, saying: “Landlords love to get their rent paid upfront. Tenants don’t want to shell out half a year’s rent on day one. We understand this mismatch and have a solution. With Rent Upfront, we pay landlords up to six months rent upfront on the tenant’s behalf. The tenant then pays us rent as normal.”

The platform says it’s had over 200 agents sign up since its launch two years ago, and is to extend its footprint from central, north west and south west London to all of Zones 1 and 2.
