Property Listing changes explained in agent webinar next week

The new material information requirements recently announced by the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team will be the topic of Rightmove’s next major webinar.

Next Tuesday - May 10 at 10am - former ARLA supremo David Cox, who is now legal and compliance director of Rightmove, will explain how to comply with the new guidelines on property listings.

The event will also touch upon the news released this week that the small number of rental properties listed on websites and portals as Price on Application have now been deemed illegal.

NTSELAT says the use of POA or Price On Application in relation to a listing on a property portal or an agent website is likely to be misleading as it withholds – or in some cases masks – the asking price from consumers.

Rightmove is introducing new fields to cover the material information listed in the first of a three-part change of property details determined by NTSELAT.

The portal has also updated its specification for data feed providers to build the new fields into their software; all data-feed providers and agents have been sent information directly on the technical details.

Information such as price and tenure already exist as fields, and the new fields will include shared ownership costs, ground rent and ground rent review period, annual service charge and council tax band.

The following day - Wednesday May 11 - property lawyer David Smith continues his series of Rightmove webinars around The Renting Homes Wales Act.

This one will focus on the re-structured repairing obligations set out in the RHWA, including the new fitness standard and the requirements to have an electrical safety test.
