Rightmove exec justifies high flying new title

Rightmove has justified the switch of one of its highest profile executive’s titles from ‘director of property data’ to ‘director of property science’.

Tim Bannister - who a year ago became the main spokesperson for the portal, taking over from Miles Shipside - has told Lettings Agent Today that the new title reflects that Rightmove has been undertaking more data science.

He says: “Having been at Rightmove for 12 years, I’ve seen how the insight from complex data analysis can help support our customers’ decision making.

“My title reflects our work bringing data, modern data science and analytical techniques and technology together.

“As there are thousands of local markets and every home-mover has their own experience, the aim of our data outputs, such as our House Price Index, is to help provide agents with insights that they can use alongside their own local expertise and experience.”

Earlier this month Rightmove company chairman Peter Brooks-Johnson announced that he will leave the board and company early next year.

A consultancy is believed to be starting the process of finding a successor.

The news of Brooks-Johnson’s upcoming departure triggered a five per cent fall on Rightmove’s share price shortly after the announcement.
