New key figure named for driving Build To Rent in the UK

Legal & General senior executive David Reid has been named as the chair of an influential committee driving forward Build To Rent.

Reid is currently managing director of Legal & General’s Suburban Build To Rent business and now takes over the leadership of the single family housing committee of the UK Apartment Association – effectively a Build To Rent trade body.

The committee brings together investors and operators of single-family houses with the developers who build them, to increase collaboration in what is seen as a critical segment of Build To Rent as it develops in the UK.

The UKAA committee includes representatives from the British Property Federation and the Home Builders Federation and association chief executive Brendan Geraghty says: “We are delighted to welcome David Reid as Chair of the UKAA’s new Single Family Housing committee. As the membership association for the institutionally backed UK Build-to-Rent sector, we recognise and fully embrace the importance of single-family rental and look forward to working with David and the committee to represent the interests of those investing in, developing, and operating purpose-built, single-family rental homes.”

Reid himself adds: “Now more than ever, we must deliver diverse residential offerings to better accommodate the broad range of different households that exist in the market. This includes the provision of reliable, high-quality, and long-term single-family rental options. I was thrilled to be asked to be Chair and look forward to working with the committee, in collaboration with investors, developers, and operators, to drive forward and deliver more much-needed quality rental homes.”
