Build To Rent provider Sigma Capital says it’s enjoyed a record breaking period of growth.

Over 2023 and so far in 2024 it has completed over 8,000 homes in total since launching its single-family rental model, with a further 4,000 or so under construction.

Since 2023, Sigma has also acquired a further 31 new developments, bringing over 2,200 new homes to the rental market.

Some 10 new regional sites and four new London sites have launched to market for first applications or taken first handovers in Q1 2024.

Sigma’s current pipeline of BTR deals is currently in excess of £3 billion across all regions, having secured several deals over the last year.

These include:

– a new framework agreement with Vistry Group to deliver 5,000 new homes in several UK regions over the next five years, as part of the partnership with Countryside Partnerships (part of Vistry Group).

– the acquisition of 306 new homes across sites with Avant Homes in the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands regions.

– being appointed as the chosen BTR provider of ‘The Gateway’ development in Ardwick, Manchester with the site set to deliver 272 new homes.

Overall, since its acquisition in 2021, Sigma has been contracting on over 3,300 units across 45 sites for its own balance sheet.

This is in addition to its continued delivery for The PRS REIT – a Real Estate Investment Trust – which Sigma founded and manages with currently over 5,300 homes, and its London Joint Venture delivering some 1,500 new homes in the outer boroughs of London.

Sigma chief executive Graham Barnet,l says: “The beauty of Sigma’s build to rent family housing model is the ability to create significant scale across a wide geographical area and offer a broad range of product to suit the majority of renters in the UK.

“We’ve achieved growth by demonstrating strength in our long-term relationships with partners, both in the private sector with our house builder partners and the public sector with numerous relationships with Local Authorities and Homes England in particular.

“We believe we are the only platform in the market building across the UK both in single family and multifamily at scale.

“Our customers benefit from a professional BTR service through our Simple Life brand and management platform with the quality of a new build home, meaning we can appeal to a very broad range of demand delivering family housing at an attainable price for local renters.”
