New PropTech tool claims faster verification checks for student renters

Todays other news

A new referencing product designed specifically for students has been launched by a PropTech operator.

Vouch’s new student offering means any additional checks or processes only relevant to salaried tenants, such as credit checks and salary verification, are removed.

Each Vouch student reference includes a complete ID check as standard, to reduce any opportunities for fraud. Agents can also opt for a ‘bundle’ offering, which offers the additional ability to gather guarantor details.

With the majority of students starting to commit to tenancies for the next academic year from November, this new offering is designed to help agents quickly capitalise on demand without increasing their workload.

Students engage with the purpose-built referencing tool via a ‘self-service’ interface. They can upload all the key information, IDs, and guarantor details in one place, making it easy for them to submit and for agents to process.

A Vouch spokesperson comments: “It’s essential that student references are handled thoroughly and compliantly, but no agent or landlord wants to be wasting time and money on checks that simply aren’t relevant to this cohort of tenants. We assessed the market and identified a huge gap for a tailored product that solves this issue.

“Our new, bespoke product allows student references to be handled smartly and efficiently. Likewise, because it’s delivered with a simple, tech-led approach, it also makes life easier for the digital-native generation of students.

“This launch is another example of how Vouch is constantly working to design and deploy products that fit the specific needs of busy agents and landlords. We know how hard they are working to keep up with current levels of demand; this product is designed to ease that burden whilst allowing them to keep growing their businesses.”
