A Build To Rent scheme of 159 flats in London’s East End claims to have all of its furnishings ‘sustainable’.
The scheme – called Alma and located at Aldgate – has hired a firm called The Furniture Practice which, in its own words,
“collaborates with clients and professional teams to create impactful living and workplace environments internationally.”
The firm claims to have ensured that all the furnishings in Alma have lower carbon emissions achieved through implementation of a close-to-home supply chain, with no items produced in factories without ethical production policies.
A statement says: “Data supplied by manufacturers has allowed The Furniture Practice to calculate the total carbon impact of each item in the fit-out, thus transparently disclosing the furniture’s overall carbon footprint.”
Alma is the latest scheme from Build To Rent player Native Residential.
A spokesperson for the scheme says: “At Alma, we believe that modern city apartments are enjoyed not only for their elegance, functionality and comfort but for their ethical considerations too.
“By working with The Furniture Practice and prioritising sustainability standards in all furniture choices in our apartments and amenities, we are proud to set a new benchmark for London rental life that respects both our residents’ needs and the environment.”
