An agency focussed on the London lettings market says the number of viewing requests per property recorded last month was the lowest since before 2023.

Online service Hello Neighbour says it had 38 viewing requests per property in November, 10% lower than in the same month year earlier.

London rents in October (the latest available data) were down 0.8% from the previous month to £2,126 and down 5.1% compared to the previous three months, similar to the trend from last month of 6.8% down.

Year-on-year, rents decreased by 1% compared to October 2023, a smaller drop than last months 4.1%

A report from the agency says: “We are still seeing rental prices stay near the average, with 12% of landlords pricing 10% above the market rate.

“The gap in demand for outer London properties versus inner London remains close, with 81 viewing requests in outer London compared to 73 in inner London.

“Redbridge had the highest number of viewing requests over the past three months, with 331 requests per property on average, followed by Havering with 285.”
