A statement from Propertymark says it is extremely saddened to hear the news of the passing of Michael Baggott, star of the BBC show Flog It!

Baggott died from a heart attack.

The organisation described Baggott as “a true friend of the NAVA Propertymark team and a highly respected figurehead for those who work within auctioneering.”

Propertymark says his knowledge and lust for the profession have been truly unrivalled, and anyone who had the privilege of working alongside him knew first-hand the personal enthusiasm, extensive knowledge and incredible sense of humour that was brought to the room when he was present.

Paying tribute, Rob Unsworth, head of BBC daytime and early peak commissioning, said Baggott “was one of Flog It’s most memorable characters, expert in all manner of collectables”.

Stuart Collar Brown, NAVA Propertymark President, comments: “Michael was a wonderful advocate for NAVA Propertymark and hugely respected in our profession. He will be sorely missed and our condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

And Richard Worrall, Past President of NAVA Propertymark, adds: “Michael was truly passionate about the antiques world. He was a font of knowledge, particularly in silver, furniture, and ivory, and he was always keen to share that knowledge with others by giving up his time.

“An author, raconteur and a pleasure to be around – he was never afraid to call out auctioneers, valuers or other experts when they made an error. He will be missed by many and we have lost a man with a huge passion for the antiques and auction world.”
