Junior staff at lettings giant Foxtons have been urged to share their concerns after claims of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour among directors at the London agent were raised.
An investigation by Bloomberg said employees have complained about being “groped, being sent suggestive messages by directors, racist comments and drunk driving.”
The business news website said it spoke with 11 current and former Foxtons employees who raised issues of unwanted physical contact, requests for sex or offensive comments between 2021 and late 2024.
No-one is named in the article but it does say chief executive Guy Gittins was told about concerns about the culture but said he could not be personally involved.
The report also highlighted concerns about the drinking culture at Foxtons.
The agency has removed alcohol from Friday meetings since July 2023.
Foxtons said in a statement: “We take allegations of harassment and misconduct extremely seriously and thoroughly investigate them.
“We urge all of our employees to use our confidential whistleblowing process so that allegations of wrongdoing can be investigated and required action taken.
“We conduct mandatory annual training for all 1,400 employees, including the board, on sexual harassment, respectful workplace behaviour and managing personal relationships at work, alongside clear and tested escalation processes, confidential whistleblowing systems and feedback surveys. We are proud of our workforce which reflects London’s vibrant and diverse population, and we are focused on fostering an environment where our people feel able to speak up.”
Its share price dropped 2.5% yesterday to 61.6p.
