Licensing scheme extended in Manchester

Hello Neighbour, a city-focussed online lettings agency, has teamed up with information service Kamma to enhance its service to landlords.

Kamma specialises in identifying local licensing requirements, which typically vary between different local authorities.

In 2025 alone, 49 new licensing schemes were introduced across England, more than double the number launched the year before.

Hundreds of thousands of properties across the UK now require a licence, generating in the region of £327m a year in fines for the most active councils.

The deal between the agency and Kamma gives landlords intelligence on licensing needs.

Hello Neighbour chief executive Richard Jenkins says: “Licensing is becoming one of the biggest compliance risks for landlords, and it is also one of the easiest to get wrong if you are relying on fragmented information and manual checks.”

And Orla Shields, chief executive of Kamma, adds: “The pace of new scheme launches means landlords can no longer rely on fragmented information or occasional checks. Our job is to provide a clear, reliable view of licensing requirements at scale.”
