Agency hails “transformational” merger with lettings giant

Martin & Co branch in Exeter has acquired Cooksleys Estate Agents.

It’s the first acquisition for franchise owners Nik Davey and Rosie Davey since taking over the business in early 2024.

The pair have been involved in agency for only two years.

The deal includes both the lettings management portfolio and the sales operation previously run by Cooksleys, significantly expanding the Exeter branch’s presence across both sectors.

The acquisition roughly doubles the size of the Martin & Co Exeter business and provides additional scope for growth.

The acquisition forms part of the Martin & Co branch’s broader ambitions to grow its presence in the local market, with the owners confirming they are open to further opportunities.

Davey comments: “We would love to grow even more in the future. If the right fit for our business comes along, we would definitely look at further acquisitions.”

Penny Sanders a director at The Property Franchise Group – which owns the Martin & Co brand nationwide – adds: “Acquisitions like this are an excellent way for Franchise Owners to accelerate growth while strengthening their presence in their local market. We’re delighted that we could support Nik and Rosie throughout the process.”

And Toby Phillips, managing director of Martin & Co overall, says the move is “a great example of ambition and commitment to growing the business. Expanding through acquisition while maintaining strong service standards is exactly the kind of progress we like to see from our franchise network.”
